Hungarian as a Foreign Language
“Survival” Hungarian for beginners
This language course, which provides help in finding one’s way in everyday life in Hungary, focuses on the vocabulary and phrases most frequently used in everyday communication. We teach students ways of greeting people and the basic expressions required during shopping, in restaurants, in the course of travelling and in case of sickness. This „Survival Hungarian” language course is also available for tourist via Skype.
InterLanguage Teaching Centre is proud to offer language courses for foreigners living in or visiting Hungary, and this has always been one of our most important services. We provide courses in which our teachers use different mediating languages to teach, i. e. certain parts of the syllabus are explained and/or recapped in the language required by the class participants. Specific requirements can be discussed at the assessment stage.
In recent years we have offered Hungarian courses which utilised English, French, German, and Italian as mediating languages, as well as Russian, German, French, and Spanish courses using English. We have also provided Chinese classes in French, Latin using English and many more. We always attempt to accommodate special requests and have recently taught, for example, a pre-school preparation course for French children, in French.

Number of Participants in a Group

We offer one-to-one tutoring for individuals who require customised courses.
One of the advantages of our small-group tutoring structure is that we can provide maximum flexibility in arranging schedules. This is tailored to our participants’ needs and can be discussed at enrolment.

In the case of one-to-one tutoring, both the number and length of classes are arranged to suit our students’ individual needs.

Hungarian as a Foreign Language
Our Hungarian language courses have been developed through years of experience in this field:
The course material and pace of our one-to-one classes are structured entirely around the needs and requirements of the participants and are in line with their expected goals. As much as possible, the time of the classes is arranged to fit the schedule of the participants.
Courses for Groups
To maintain the highest efficiency, our courses are taught in small groups (max. four people) in our Budapest centre. The size of groups makes the use of customised course materials and flexible scheduling feasible.
Full Course Programs
Advanced bookings for full course programs are available for groups. In case of such programs, the course material, the schedule, the aims of the students and number of classes is negotiated with the commissioning party in advance.
Our successful working relationship with the Artemisszió Foundation uses this framework. We have organised several sets of intensive Hungarian language courses for young people who arrive in Budapest as part of the EU?s Leonardo da Vinci program.
