About Croatian language and culture
Croatian or hrvatski is the official language of the Republic of Croatia and is among the list of official languages in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Spoken natively by approximately 5 million people.
Did someone really say that it is only one week until Christmas Eve? That means that in only seven short days, families all over Croatia will be enjoying their traditional Kroštule and decorating their Christmas Trees with beautiful fruit shaped ornaments. The Croatian božićno drvce used to be decorated with real fresh or candied fruit…and the star of the show of course was always the decorated apple that was given to girls from their suitors as Christmas gifts. Badnji dan or Christmas Eve is derived from the word badnjak, a Yule log that is cut down in the morning and lit on the evening of December 24th and remains burning throughout Christmas Day.
