About Turkish language and culture
Turkish, or Türkçe, is the official language of Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, and it is also among the officially recognized languages in the Republic of Cyprus. It is spoken natively by approximately 76 million people.
Turkish is a remarkable language — one that is spoken across two continents yet represents one nation. Through this rich linguistic and cultural heritage, the world has not only gained words such as kebab and kayak, but has also benefited from the influence of Turkish-born visionaries. One such figure is Ahmet Ertegun, the Istanbul-born businessman, songwriter, and co-founder of Atlantic Records, who also served as Chairman of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Thanks to his extraordinary contribution to the music industry, the world was introduced to unforgettable artists such as Aretha Franklin, whose 1967 hit song “Respect” remains a timeless classic.
So why not take a moment to listen to this wonderful piece of musical history?
